There is a campaign underway to repeal the ban on pubs and restaurants selling alcohol on Good Friday. The only other day of the year when the pubs close is Christmas Day. The campaign is all part of an attempt to make every day equally commercial. But in many European countries there are all kinds of restrictions on trade, especially on Sundays in countries like Germany, when shops close. In Ireland we have very few restrictions and Good Friday and Christmas Day are two of the only days of the year when commerce doesn’t completely rule.
If you support keeping Good Friday special and keeping it as one day of the year when commerce don’t dominate, then please sign our petition.
